The Latest Women's Fashion Trends 2022
Posted by Jintao Du on
Let’s be real, we lived in sweats the majority of last year. So, it’s no surprise that SS22 is all about maximum style mileage. We’re talking full-on party mode here.
Whether it’s sexy cutouts or rocking a bra as a crop, everyone seems to be daring to bare a little more. Quite possibly fuelled by the desire for escapism while we were all locked down, there’s no holding back when it comes to dressing up.
It’s no surprise then that we’re seeing micro-mini skirts, sky-high heels and eyecatching glitter that are made to steal the show. Vibrant colours will also make their appearance, especially bold and bright handbags. Statement patterns and sultry swimwear can’t be missed either.
We’re so ready to dress the part. So without further ado, here’s what we’re predicting will be the next big fashion trends of 2022.
Short and Tight
We’re even seeing low-rise mini’s make their way to the stage. Our favourite? We are in love with high rise micro skirts. A classic black number can’t do you any wrong.
All Things Purple
A new trend slowly creeping into this season’s must-dos? Incorporating purple into your outfits.
This year, we saw Pantone release ‘Very Peri’ as the colour of the year. From periwinkle shades like that to richer and more regal tones, we’re placing bets that purple is going to be the next big thing.
Lock in your signature tone now ladies.
Criteria? The brighter, the better. Since we’ve seen designers Balenciaga and Givenchy introduce statement handbags in bold shades, everyone has been obsessed.
From sherbert orange to hot pink to lime green, there’s no colour kept aside. If it’s a little much for you, then opt for contrast or colour-blocked pieces.
The Low-Rise is Back
You may love it or hate it, but you’re going to be seeing this around in 2022. Low-rise bottoms are back and we’re instantly being transported to the ‘90s. Sitting below the belly button, you can go for the Y2K vibe and go for a sultry thong-revealing look. For a classier take, opt for low-rise denim jeans or leather pants.
Hello Regency Period
Corsets, puff sleeves, chiffon and bardot necklines. We’re going historic this year with our dressing as 18th and 19th-century influence seeps onto the runways. We’re loving relaxed silhouettes and voluminous sleeves.
Is That A Bra?
No, it’s not! Bra tops have made their way into fashion today. A sultry new style, these pieces are the perfect way to introduce a dose of spice into more tailored ensembles. We’re talking about a coordinated suit with a black lace bra top peeking through. Or, perhaps a sleek satin black number with a high-rise midi skirt and heels for dinner out with the girls. Regardless of where you’re heading, it’s a versatile number your capsule collection needs.
Cut It Out
Time to get a little cheeky this season. Emerging last year, we’re going to see the cutout trend live on throughout 2022. Such a loved fashion trend, some of these pieces are oh so flattering when it comes to strategically placed exposition. From rib cut-outs on bodycon dresses to keyhole details on the hips with high-rise pants, they add a spicy touch to any look.
More Volume Please
We’re all about the oversized silhouette. From blown up puff sleeves to oversized shirts, volume isn’t going anywhere this year. Perfect at making a statement with structure, seamlessly pair them with body-hugging bottoms and heels for a sleek look.
Are we all just dreaming of a tropical vacation right now? Beachwear has become the hot new trend of the SS22. Whether it's stringy bikinis or crochet coords, look like you’re resort-ready next time you’re heading for sunset drinks or poolside party’s.
You need to be looking like you’re on your way to a rave. We’re talking bucket hats, distressed denim and oversized tees. Whether you’re styling boyfriend fit denim jackets over a bralette and baggy jeans, or opting for a fuzzy bucket hat with your graphic tee and leather pants, this edgy style is a fashion trend we’re loving for 2022.
Shine Baby, Shine!
Embrace the high shine with sequin and metallic numbers. One of the more bold fashion trends in 2022, we love the incorporation of a glittering pair of wide-leg pants with a simple crop, or a bodycon sequin dress that will have all eyes on you. Have your moment next time you’re heading off to the dancefloor.
We’ve seen them before and we’ll see them again. This season, we’re seeing tailored pieces have their moment. From oversized blazers to micro numbers, they had an ultra-smart touch to any look. We’re loving neutral shades, particularly beige.
