The Ultimate Guide to First Date Dressing

Posted by Jintao Du on

So you’ve scored a hot date with a total cutie and the pressure to look good is starting to creep up. Deciding on what to wear for a first date is always stressful. Not only do you need to dress for the occasion, but you want your personal style to shine through too.

Now we know first impressions count, so we’ve pulled together some first date outfit ideas that will totally get you that second date.

Here is the Ally Fashion guide to dressing for a first date!

So, where are we going?

The first thing you need to lock down an answer for is where you’re heading or what you’re doing. Are you guys heading for a cute picnic date outdoors, a movie, fancy dinner or casual drinks?

Your venue or activity will give you a pretty good idea of how to dress. From there, it’s easy peasy when it comes to letting your own personality shine through!

Coffee Date

So, we’re talking cute but casual here! Whether it’s brunch or just a takeaway coffee and a little stroll, you want to be laid-back but fashion-forward here.

We’d go straight for some denim jeans and a nice top. Sneakers or sandals will also be your friend here.

Dinner Date

It’s time to go all out ladies. Now, when it comes to dinner dates it totally depends on the restaurant or location itself. There’s a major difference between 5-star dining and the local family-owned food joint, so make sure to sus out the vibes (hint: we love checking the location tag on Insta to see what others wear!). Check out our bodycon dresses, midi skirts and evening tops!

Rooftop Cocktails

Again, totally similar planning as a dinner date. The location itself will give you the vibe to go for. If it’s at sunset by the beach, opt for light colours and relaxed silhouettes. In the evening with cityscape views, you want to go a bit more sultry and luxe.

Outdoor Walk

Sporty chic has entered the chat. We’re loving graphic sweaters right now and if there’s any excuse for us to wear them, we will. If you’re off for an outdoor walk or any other recreational activity, there’s no going wrong with a coordinated sweat set.

Style with some fresh sneakers and stacked jewellery for a sleek look. Otherwise, some simple bike shorts and a hoodie can do you no wrong.
