A Guide To Staying At Home

A Guide To Staying At Home

Posted by Jintao Du on

If there is anything good to have come out of lockdown it’s loungewear! Although many people have returned to the office and are back to normal life, the loungewear trend remains popular.

The resurgence of classic sweats, fabrics and relaxed silhouettes made us rediscover the joys of staying inside. We learnt to ditch the pantsuits, long days in the office and constant need to look on point, for a comfy, laid-back lifestyle at home.

What we've discovered in the last year though, is loungewear doesn't have to be confined to the walls of our home. When done right, you can be comfortable while looking sophisticated. A little unsure how to make your sweat pants chic? Lucky for you, we’ve put together a guide to all things loungewear to prepare you for another year of comfort-dominated fashion.

What Is Loungewear?

Falling somewhere between athleisure and sleepwear, loungewear includes relaxed silhouettes, comfy fabrics and often neutral palettes. Although loungewear is easy and effortless, there are a few things to consider before shopping.

  1. Comfort: Go for fabrics that are soft, cosy but feel put together too. Breathable cottons and linens are always a popular choice!
  2. Fresh palettes: Loungewear is typically crafted in neutral hues but 2022 is seeing some splashes of colour!
  3. Timeless designs: Go for versatile pieces you can wear for years to come.

What's The Difference Between Sleepwear And Loungewear?

The test to determine whether an item is meant for lounging or sleeping is whether you’d be willing to be seen at the front door, or even out of the house in it. Loungewear usually includes clothing items such as leggings, joggers, tees and track shorts, while sleepwear includes pyjamas, nighties and gowns.

Can You Wear Loungewear Outside?

The answer is 100% yes. Loungewear was designed for days spent hanging around the home. Now we are seeing these much-loved comfy items worn outdoors in stylish ways! Here are some simple tips to master the loungewear look outdoors:

  1. Find your perfect match! Check out our range of coordinated loungewear sets for a put-together look.
  2. Add layers. Throw an open button-up shirt over a crop to elevate your loungewear.
  3. Go for a neutral palette. Tonal colours like grey, cream, black and white, keep your 'fit looking fresh and modern.
  4. Throw on some shades. Radiate effortlessly cool vibes in a pair of sunnies.

What Loungewear Is Trending?

From elevated knits to graphic tees, we’ve put together a cosy roundup of looks that showcase the perfect mix of comfort and style.

An easy way to master the loungewear look is by having a good collection of basics in your wardrobe capsule. Basic tanks are a popular option and can easily be paired with track shorts, bike shorts or thrown under a baggy jacket. Go for a sporty look with one of our embroidered logo rib tanks or keep things simple with a seamless hem tank.

Athleisure has become a popular trend in the last year. This comes as no surprise considering all we could do was walk during lockdown. Graphic tees and track shorts are just some of the on-trend pieces we are rocking this season!

One of my personal favourites, the oversized button-down shirt is everywhere! This casual take on a formal piece has been spotted in an array of bright hues from bubblegum pink to electric blue! If you prefer to stick to a neutral palette, you can't go wrong with a white button-down shirt. Wear it open over your cropped tank and bike shorts for a casual, laid-back look.

Matching sets have become a trend of their own. Last year we saw cute knit sets and top-skirt combos fill our insta feeds. Today, this trend has combined with loungewear to make the ultimate OTP. From matching tracksuits to stylish short and shirt sets, a coordinated combo is an easy way to feel comfortable while looking put together.
